Eau Claire (WQOW)- This weekend hundreds of people will take steps in the fight to end breast cancer.
Many of us have a friend or family member who has been affected by the disease. Cheryl Rue beat breast cancer last year and on Saturday she will share her story at Eau Claire's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. The walk is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Money raised goes to fund research and support local women battling breast cancer.
"I spoke to a lady that her daughter in law was diagnosed with breast cancer and the American Cancer Society helped her with a wig," recalls Cheryl. "She said the minute that they found her a wig that kind of fit her she said she stood taller, she had a huge smile on her face. It's things like that, that make the difference. When you think you could do that for somebody, help support them, I think that's what its all about."
The 5th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held on October 20th. WQOW News 18 is proud to be a sponsor of this event and we hope you'll join us in downtown Eau Claire Saturday morning. For more information click here.
