Another lawsuit filed in deadly boat crash

Posted:

Chippewa County (WQOW) - Another lawsuit is filed over the Chippewa River boat crash that claimed the lives of four people.

Two boats collided on the river in July 2011. Three of the men who died were members of a wedding party. Investigators say both of the boat throttles were at full speed, and both operators were intoxicated.

Now, the son of one of the operators has filed suit against the driver of the other boat. Ross Michels is suing Robert Romanshek for the wrongful death of Mark Michels. The suit claims Romanshek's negligence caused the crash.

This is the fifth wrongful death suit filed in the crash. The Chippewa County district attorney is still reviewing the case to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
