Local panel will discuss frac sand Monday

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A controversial topic will be the center of discussion at a local panel Monday. 

Wispolitics.com and wisbusiness.com are sponsoring a moderated panel on sand mining Monday morning. Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder and State Representative Chris Danou will be there, along with a local attorney, County  Board Chair, and the Planning Chief for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

There is a cost to attend the panel at Florian Gardens. It is $18 for the public, or $15 for members of Momentum West, Counties Association, or an Xcel Energy employee. It starts Monday at 11:30am and goes until one 1:00pm. 

WQOW News 18 anchor, Jerry Gallagher, just returned from a trip to North Dakota, where our frac sand is being used for oil and natural gas production. He'll have more when our series, "Sandstorm of Business" returns next Sunday night.
