ARGYLE (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin family honors their young son by creating an event to raise awareness about pediatric epilepsy.
Mathias Koch was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy at 5 months old. He died in November of 2010 from complications.
The Kochs nicknamed Mathias "Chunky Monkey," and created the Chunky Monkey 5K and Kids Fun Run in his memory. All proceeds from The Chunky Monkey will benefit children affected by epilepsy by furthering research at the University of Wisconsin Madison under the direct supervision of Dr. Carl Stafstrom.
The 5K run/walk starts at 10:00 a.m. at Yellowstone Golf Course and the kids' run begins at 11:00 a.m.
