MONONA (WKOW) -- Police say a Monona man bit an officer shortly after being
arrested for drunk driving Monday evening.
Authorities say a Monona police officer was on the way to check on a
possible hit and run suspect and vehicle on the 4400 block of Wallace Avenue,
when he saw the suspect vehicle on the road.
Police say the officer made a traffic stop, and that's when 30-year-old
Anthony Celley got out of the car and became physical. The officer, who was
alone at the time, called for help.
Once additional officers arrived, Celley was handcuffed and put in the back
of a police car where he continued to put up a fight. Monona police say on the
way to the Dane County Jail, officers stopped to re-secure the suspect and that's
when he bit an officer.
Celley was arrested on multiple
charges including 4th offense drunk driving, battery to an officer,
resisting arrest, and criminal damage to property.
