FREEPORT, Ill. (WKOW) -- Rev. Jesse Jackson was taken into custody on Wednesday after joining forces with several protesters who marched onto the property at Sensata Technologies. The group was protesting the closure of the northern Illinois plant
Jackson says he joined the protestors because their fight to save their jobs is "the essence of the American struggle." Sensata Technologies is in the process of moving its Freeport manufacturing operations to China. The move will cost 170 jobs at the Illinois plant.
The protesters were cited for violating Freeport's trespassing ordinance and released. Jackson says the protests will continue next week.
