Ladysmith man convicted on several physical and sexual abuse charges

MADISON (Press Release) - Rusk County District Attorney Andrea Nodolf and Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced that on Tuesday October 24, 2012, Christopher Swanson was convicted of 10 felony crimes after a trial by jury. 

These crimes included multiple counts of physical and sexual abuse involving three teenage girls during the summer of 2011 through April of 2012. In addition to the victims testifying, the state introduced journals kept by one victim and videos taken by another as exhibits in their case against Christopher Swanson  

Rusk County Circuit Court Judge Steven P. Anderson presided over the case.  Judge Anderson revoked bail and set the case for sentencing. Christopher Swanson faces up to a maximum penalty of 298 years imprisonment.

The convictions were the result of an investigation by the Ladysmith Police Department and the Rusk County Department of Health & Human Services.

District Attorney Andrea Nodolf and Assistant Attorney General Karie Cattanach, as a special prosecutor, represented the State for Rusk County. Rusk County Crime Victim Services provided victim services in this case.
