UPDATE: Brothers arrested in Halloween party stabbing


TOWN OF ARENA (WKOW) -- Wednesday, Shane T. Behrens, age 19, and his brother Brandon M. Behrens were arrested and booked into the Iowa County jail related to a stabbing that left four people injured Sunday, October 28.

Shane Behrens faces charges for attempted homicide/party to a crime and substantial battery.  Brandon Behrens faces two counts of attempted homicide and one county of attempted homicide/party to a crime.

The brothers, of Spring Green, are being held pending a bond hearing that should take place sometime Thursday, November 1.


TOWN OF ARENA (WKOW) -- The Iowa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Halloween party stabbing that left four people injured early Sunday.

Three people were transported to area hospitals when authorities arrived on the scene just before 1:30 a.m. A fourth victim was discovered hours later.

Iowa County officials say 20-year-old Brandon Behrens of Spring Green and his brother, 19-year-old Shane Behrens have been identified as persons of interest in the stabbing incident. They are being held at the Iowa County Jail on unrelated charges. Brandon Behrens was arrested for battery and substantial batter. Shane Behrens was arrested for recklessly endangering safety and battery.

Officials say the fight broke out during a Halloween party at 7160 County Highway H in the town of Arena. Some neighbors tell 27 News the street is usually pretty quiet.

"I really didn't see too much, I just heard fighting and screaming," said Jeanne Vollmer, who lives two houses down from where the stabbing happened. Vollmer said she saw about 10 cars at the party before authorities arrived.

Ada Rose also woke up from all the noise. "It's a surprise it happened," she said about the incident occurring in the small community of just over 800 people.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing. Some injuries would be considered serious but none are life-threatening at this time.


TOWN OF ARENA (WKOW) -- Three people are taken to the hospital after an overnight stabbing. One of the victims was taken via Med Flight.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office was notified of a stabbing incident that happened on the 7100 block of County Road H near Arena. It happened about 1:30 Sunday morning.

A fight broke out at a Halloween party and during that fight three people were stabbed. The victims were taken to UW Hospital in Madison. One was taken via Med Flight and the other two victims by EMS.

Interviews are being conducted with victims and witnesses.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any further information at this time.
