(WQOW) -- The 40th-annual WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament gets underway later this week at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Grantsburg's going back to state for a 5th straight time, and for the 13th time overall. The Pirates have been a perennial power in the are, although head coach Deb Allaman-Johnson thinks this group is composed of overachievers.
"Most of these girls have never been on the floor at the Resch, so I'm really excited," says Allaman-Johnson, "and I know that we're going to see some real tough teams out there but they just keep playing better than they really are, it's kind of crazy to say, but they just keep stepping their game up."
Grantsburg will face defending state champ Oostburg, in a Division 3 semifinal, at 1:00 P.M., Friday.
There's a lot of excitement in Luck, because the Cardinals are headed to state volleyball for the first time in school history. Luck advanced with a 3-0 win over Clayton Saturday night in a sectional final.
Luck will play defending Division 4 state champ Burlington Catholic Central in a semifinal, Friday, at 10:00 A.M.
