New Jersey levee breaks, stranding hundreds

MOONACHIE, N.J. (WKOW) -- First responders are trying to rescue people after a levee broke and flooded a small New Jersey town early Tuesday.

In Bergen County, several towns are affected. Moonachie is entirely under water. Police Sergeant Tom Schmidt says the levee broke and left about five feet of water in the streets within 45 minutes.

The police and fire department buildings are flooded. Crews are using boats to rescue about 800 people live in a mobile home park.

There are no reports of injuries or deaths.
