Public hearing Tuesday on hunting and trapping in state parks

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Plans to expand hunting and trapping in state parks, including several in our area, come up for public comment Tuesday night.

The new law takes effect January1st, 2013. It includes Brunet Island and Lake Wissota State Park, both in Chippewa County.

On Tuesday, the state natural resources board wants to hear from park users and citizens. Up for discussion, the proposed dates when hunting and trapping would be allowed. The plan calls for allowing those activities from October 15th to the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend.

Comment will also be taken on what areas of the parks should be off limits. Maps showing those proposals are available here

The hearing starts at 6:30 p.m. at the CVTC on Clairemont Avenue.
