NEW YORK (WKOW) -- There are questions about why the backup power system at a New York Hospital failed Monday night, and the sickest patients weren't evacuated before Hurricane Sandy hit.
Monday night, 13-day-old Baby Martinez needed to be transported from NYU Medical Center. The doctors found themselves in a worst case scenario, having to transport little babies like this to another hospital.
Baby Martinez' parents found out the hospital was being evacuated on TV. Shortly after, they lost power. They didn't know where their daughter was being taken. All they could do was hope, pray, and wait for word of where to find their newborn. They say it was a rough night, and only got one hour of sleep.
The baby was safely transported, and Baby Martinez' parents have decided to name her Emma Sophia.
