Authorities working on identifying body found in Ladysmith


Ladysmith Police Department (Press Release) - On October 10, 2012 at approximately 4:55 p.m. the Ladysmith Police Department and Rusk County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a body found on the Canadian National Railroad tracks within the City of Ladysmith in Rusk County.

The Ladysmith Police Department has received a lead on the case based on a subpoena for records from one of the receipts that was located on the body.

Contact was made with the man's biological mother and a DNA sample was taken from her. DNA samples were forwarded to the Madison Crime Lab to assist in positively identification of the body.

The adult male lived in the Ladysmith/Bruce area and was 25-years-old. No foul play is suspected at this time. No other information is being released pending positive identification.

If anyone has information to assist in this investigation, please contact the Ladysmith Police Department at 715-532-2186 and ask for Lt. Kevin Julien. The death is being investigated by the Ladysmith Police Department and the Rusk County Coroner's Office.
