Western Wisconsin (WQOW) - The parent company for We Energies is considering a major investment in western Wisconsin, due in large part to the demand for frac sand.
Gale Klappa, Wisconsin Energy CEO, said they are beginning to evaluate routes between Eau Claire County and Tomah for a new natural gas pipeline. "I believe, for example, just talking to our folks yesterday, that we're in conversations with 12 or more frac sand mining operations in the western part of the state who asked us to take a hard look at providing them service," said Klappa during a quarterly analyst call on Wednesday.
Wisconsin Energy plans to seek approval from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission next year. The initial investment could hit $150 million.
