MADISON, Wis. -– After Wisconsin (1-3-1, 1-1-1 WCHA) dedicated the ice at the Kohl Center as "Bob Johnson Rink," the Badgers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Colorado College evened things at 2-2 through two periods, before the Badgers, then the Tigers took third-period leads. Madison, Wis., native Keegan Meuer, whose grandfather was best friends with Bob Johnson, tied the game for the last time at 4-4 with under five minutes remaining in the third period.
However, CC won the game 25 seconds into overtime after Charlie Taft, the son of former Badger John Taft, who played at Wisconsin in the 1970s under Bob Johnson, knocked the puck out of the air behind the net on a pass by UW goaltender Joel Rumpel. Taft hit CC's Alexander Krushelnyski in front for the finish and a 5-4 Colorado College victory.
UW led 2-0 after one and took a 3-2 lead just 54 seconds into the third period after CC tied the game in the second period.
Madison, Wis., native Keegan Meuer, whose grandfather was best friends with Bob Johnson, tied the game at with 4:18 left in the third period.
CC won the game with a goal 25 seconds into overtime.
