Beloit police search for homicide suspect

BELOIT (WKOW) -- Police are searching for a suspect they believe shot and killed an Illinois man in Beloit.

Around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Beloit police found 19-year-old Ricky Sims, Jr., on Merrill Street. The Chicago man had multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken to an area hospital where he died during surgery.

Police believe the victim and suspect, 28-year-old Tevon Marley, were in two separate vehicles prior to the shooting. The victim was found in a yard on Merrill Street.

Marley faces a charge of first degree intentional homicide. The Harvey, Illinois man is also a suspect in an April 5, attempted homicide on W. Grand Avenue in Beloit.

Police say Marley should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 911, or Beloit Crime Stoppers at 608-362-7463.
