Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire police searched the Third Ward area Sunday night after several people called 911 to report hearing gunshots around 10:00 pm. Police say they set up a perimeter and searched the area around South Farwell, Gilbert Avenue, and Dewey Street but found nothing. They say it may have been fireworks, but until they can prove it was fireworks, they'll treat it like a possible gunshot case. They have not found anything that would lead them to believe it was gunshots.
Police say they will have officers in the area all night as a precaution. If you hear or see anything suspicious, call police.
