Waterloo Township crash leads to fight

WATERLOO (WKOW) -- A 43-year-old woman is in Grant County jail after police say she was involved in a crash and a fight over the weekend.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department says Tara Fecht, of Cassville, called the department around 9 a.m. on Sunday to report her car had been stolen and involved in a crash. Fecht told a deputy several different versions of the event until she eventually admitted to being involved in a crash on Pigeon Creek Road and leaving the scene.

While officials were attempting to locate the scene of the crash, they say the people with Fecht called 911 to report that she was heavily intoxicated and out of control. Authorities say Fecht punched a man in the face and then fled the residence she was at in Cassville when she found out the police had been notified.

Police found Fecht a short time later, still in the Cassville, hiding in a closet at a friend's residence. Fecht was arrested and booked into Grant County jail on charges of bail jumping, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff's Department say citations will be issued once an investigation into the crash is complete.
