MADISON (WKOW) -- The polls have closed in Wisconsin.
The Government Accountability Board has predicted voter turnout at close to 70 percent (close to 3 million votes).
As of 4:00 p.m., the City of Madison reported a 54 percent turnout. It was 27 percent at 11:00 a.m.
Madison election officials say this Election Day is running smoothly compared to four years ago.

MADISON (WKOW) -- City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl says voting in Madison appears to have high turnout. With a few wards missing, as off 11:00 a.m., turnout was at 27 percent. That number often doubles at 4:00 p.m. and doubles again before the polls close.
Witzel-Behl says this election day is running smoothly compared to 2008. The Government Accountability Board has predicted voter turnout at close to 70 percent (close to 3 million votes).
The GAB says voters and observers have been well-behaved at the polls and that they haven't heard of any major problems, just a few isolated issues with voting equipment malfunctions.
