Eau Claire (WQOW) -- For a fourth straight season, Eau Claire Regis has reached Level 4 of the WIAA Division 6 football playoffs.
The Ramblers' last win at Level 4 was in 2009, but then, they lost 49-7 to Edgar in the WIAA State Finals.
Regis gets another shot at the Wildcats Friday night. The Ramblers are indoors Tuesday to prepare for the matchup.
Regis advanced with a 25-8 win over Boyceville in Level 3, while Edgar blanked Rosholt, 43-0. Ramblers head coach Bryant Brenner says playing a very physical game last Friday against Boyceville will help his guys get ready for what they'll face this week in the Wildcats.
"Edgar's going to play a similar type of game to what Boyceville played against us," says Brenner, "we have nothing but respect for Edgar and their program, one of the best small schools in the state, certainly well-coached, their history speaks for itself, their players work really hard in the offseason as well as the season. We're really hopeful that we can give them a better game than the last time we played them, we learned a lot of things from that game as coaches, so we're hopeful that we'll give them a better game this week."
Brenner says his guys will need to clean things up this week to beat Edgar.
"We weren't so great with turnovers and penalties last week," says Brenner, "we're really trying to focus on that being a point of emphasis for us this week. If we're going to be successful we've got to play well, we can't fumble the ball and we can't have penalties. We're really excited and just ecstatic to be in this situation, we aren't taking anything for granted, we've been here before, one time we got through and the other time we didn't, trying to learn from things that went well and also learn from our mistakes, too."
Regis and Edgar will kick things off at 7:00 P.M., Friday at Dorais Field in Chippewa Falls.
