RECALL: 70,000 office chairs

Posted:

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Federal safety officials are recalling about 70,000 office chairs over concerns that the chairs can break and hurt the person sitting in them.

Sauder Woodworking Company announced the recall on Wednesday.

The company says the recall involves 31 models of their Gruga Office Chairs.

Officials say the seat plates of the recalled chair can break, causing the consumer to fall. There have been 17 reports of the seat plates breaking. Two of those incidents resulted in the consumer falling and receiving bumps and bruises.

The recalled chairs were sold between August 2009 and September 2012 at Meijer, Menards, Shopko and Target and a variety of retail outlets nationwide, and online.

If you have a recalled chair, contact Sauder for a free replacement seat plate and attachment tool. For more information, contact Sauder at 1-888-800-4590 or online.
