Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Tuesday, voters chose a new district
attorney to serve Eau Claire
County.
Gary King, who currently serves as
the county's Assistant DA beat out his boss, Brian Wright, by over 3,000
votes. King says he believes it was a
combination of his thirteen year criminal law background, plus support from Eau Claire County's former DA, Rich White and the
Eau Claire Professional Police Association, that gave him the edge.
WQOW News
18 asked King what it was like running against a fellow employee.
"At the beginning
of the process I was very up front with Mr. Wright and he in turn was very
respectful about my decision to run for the office. And while from the outside
looking in, that may look like it would have created some issues, I think we
would both be in agreement that it didn't," says King.
King will
be sworn in as the new DA in January.
Wright was appointed to the position by Governor Walker this spring; after
Rich White stepped down to take a job in the private sector.
