Burnett County (WQOW) - A former daycare provider is accused of bilking the government out of tens of thousands of dollars.
Kelly Martin owned daycare centers in Siren and Danbury in Burnett County. Martin received reimbursements from the state's W-2 program for caring for children from low-income families.
But state investigators say she paid-off area mothers to allow her to claim their children even though they didn't attend the daycare. She also allegedly inflated the number of hours that other children actually were there.
Investigators say she wrongly received more than $30,000 in state money.
Martin will be in court in three weeks on a charge of felony theft.
