St. Croix County (WQOW) - If hearing about a moratorium wasn't enough for a potential sand mining company to think twice, the language of that moratorium will be.
A town in St. Croix County will fine companies $1 million per day for ignoring a new moratorium.
The Town of Kinnickinnic approved a one-year moratorium to study frac sand mining. The town could lift the moratorium before then if an ordinance is adopted. A town board representative says no one has applied for a permit with the town, but they have heard about some test borings being done within the county.
