River Falls (WQOW) - A plea bargain has been reached Friday in the death of a western Wisconsin man who was shot by his friend.
Anthony Velure of River Falls accepted a plea deal in St. Croix County court.
Last year, Velure was at a River Falls apartment complex visiting Josh Kurer. The two men had served together in the military. Velure had been drinking that night. He told investigators he picked up a handgun, emptied out what he thought were all of the bullets and pointed it at Kurer and pulled the trigger. Kurer was shot in the chest.
Police say Velure told them they had pointed unloaded guns at each other in the past and pulled the trigger. Velure pleaded no contest today to a reduced homicide charge. A sentencing date will now be set.
