MADISON (WKOW) -- Authorities have released the name of the man police say was shot by a Madison officer early Friday morning.
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Paul Heenan, 30, of Madison. Authorities say he died of firearm related trauma. Additional testing is underway.
Heenan was shot and killed after a confrontation with a police officer who responded to a reports of a burglary on the 300-block of South Baldwin Street at 2:45 a.m. Friday.
Sources tell 27 News that Heenan is a musician. A friend says that Heenan had just moved into to a house a few doors down from the home involved in the shooting.
Electronic court records indicate he has no apparent criminal history in Wisconsin.
Police say the officer is on administrative leave following the shooting.
