MADISON (WKOW) -- A former plant researcher at UW-Madison is accused of growing marijuana in a university lab.
Christopher J. Schwartz, 45, was charged Friday with two felony counts of marijuana manufacturing and possession.
Prosecutors say someone discovered 12 marijuana plants growing in the biochemistry building last month. The criminal complaint says the room was used by Schwartz and locked with a padlock.
A university spokeswoman says Schwartz was initially placed on administrative leave after his arrest, but he resigned late last month.
The complaint says Schwartz acknowledged growing the plants for personal use.
