Crosstown Trek explores education, safety, diversity, and healthcare costs in Eau Claire

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW)- On Tuesday night, WQOW is tackling some very serious subjects in its series Crosstown Trek.

Photojournalist Steve Betchkal and reporter Mike Joyce are backpacking across Eau Claire to examine how the quality of life has changed over the years.  On Tuesday, they will look at a series of topics including education, safety, diversity, and healthcare.

"If you had a situation like we had, you are just kind of over a barrel," notes Joe Thielen of Eau Claire.  "For the last 10 years, our wages have basically been stagnant but healthcare costs keep rising."

"Somebody asked me why are you going into nursing and I actually said I want to have health insurance; and my instructor laughed at me," remembers Joe's wife, Sara.

Join Steve and Mike Tuesday night at 10 P.M. for Crosstown Trek.
