Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - A local police department is adding another set of eyes to
their squad cars.
The Chippewa Falls Police Department
installed cameras in their squad cars last week. There is one camera installed
on the front dashboard and another focused on the back seat. Officers also wear
a microphone. When officers begin a shift, they log onto the computer system in
their car and the video starts recording.
"It helps us when
we go to court, you know, for one to substantiate the violation that we saw,
two we can actually review it right in the squad, so if we're not sure
about something we saw, we can go back
and replay it, we can most certainly do that as well," says Officer Korry Boos.
All recorded
video is stored for 30 days, unless an officer wants to keep it longer.
