Black River Falls (WQOW) - A Jackson County zoning committee stood by its first vote and chose not to reconsider a request about frac sand.
Coulee Frac Sand wants to mine in the Town of Franklin. In August, the Jackson County Zoning & Land Information Committee denied a rezoning request by the company. On Thursday, the company asked the group to reconsider, but the committee said no.
"We think it's just a bad idea for our township. We're a long way from railroads. It's going to be at least 10 miles on a rural road, very narrow, twisty, no shoulders, lots of Amish people, lots of horse and buggy traffic. We just don't think it's safe," said Tom Clark, a Town of Franklin resident.
The request still needs to go before the full county board. The board could take it up next month.
