VENICE, La. (WKOW) -- The Coast Guard says no oil is leaking from a Gulf of Mexico oil platform damaged by an explosion and fire on Friday.

Officials say the blast took place as workers used a cutting torch. Four people were sent to a hospital with burns, and two others are missing in waters of Louisiana.

A small amount of oil spilled from the rig when workers cut into a line on the platform, but the Coast Guard says it can be contained.

Coast Guard aircraft and boats are searching for the two missing people.

The rig, a production platform owned by Black Elk Energy, is about 25 miles southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana.

WEST COTE BLANCHE, LOUISIANA (WKOW) -- Four people are sent to the hospital and two are missing after an oil rig explodes off the coast of Louisiana.

Coast Guard officials say the rig, a production platform owned by Black Elk Energy, is about 25 miles southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana.

Two helicopters, an airplane and small boats were sent to the area. The Coast Guard says the explosion caused a fire, but a spokesman was not sure if the fire was out yet.

The platform is a production platform, unlike the Deepwater Horizon rig, and was drilling an exploratory well in mile-deep water well to the east of the explosion.
