Eau Claire (WQOW) - A new leader is chosen for a local health department.

The department's current director, Richard Thoune, is retiring at the end of the month. Elizabeth Giese has been appointed as the Eau Claire City County Health Department director. Giese is the director of the Western Regional office of the state's Division of Public Health. Her first day on the job will be December 17th. She will make just over 90 thousand dollars a year.
