Eau Claire (WQOW) - Area residents took a walk Saturday morning, helping to raise money for a good cause.
Saturday was the first St. Jude's Give Thanks Walk in the Chippewa Valley. Walkers at the Eau Claire Indoor
Sports Center
joined others in 90 cities across the United States as part of a large
fundraising effort. The donations will go to help young cancer patients get the
treatment they need.
"We treat kids from
all 50 states, from around the world, and from right here in the Chippewa Valley. One of our patients is a junior
at UW-Eau Claire and so we're really excited that we can lend our discoveries
around the world freely," said event coordinator Julia Chapman.
St. Jude's Children's Hospital
covers all expenses to the families of those affected. Saturday's event helped
raise $14,000.
