Pierce County (WQOW) - A
suspect is charged in an Ellsworth gas station robbery, after DNA evidence
links him to the crime.
Jason Steven Kearns is charged in Pierce County
with armed robbery. Ellsworth police say the Super America was robbed at
gunpoint back on august first. Just under $600 was taken and the suspect was
able to get away.
Police later found rubber gloves on
a road not far from the store they believe were used in the robbery. The state
crime lab matched DNA from those gloves to Kearns.
Kearns was also arrested for
allegedly robbing a Hudson
gas station just a few days after the Ellsworth robbery. He was eventually
caught after a high speed chase.
When Ellsworth police interviewed Kearns while he was in custody for that robbery,
police say he admitted robbing the Ellsworth gas station. Kearns
told police he was on drugs, and had stolen a motorcycle he used in both
robberies. Kearns is due in court next month.
