Wis. home sales, prices increase in October - WQOW TV: Eau Claire, WI NEWS18 News, Weather, and Sports

MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin home sales increase this October compared to last year.

According to the Wisconsin Realtors Association, existing home sales went up 29.4 percent from October 2011 to October 2012. That's the highest monthly growth rate since August 2011.

The WRA says median home prices also went up 3.5 percent to $134,500 over that same time period. That's the strongest increase in median prices since early 2012.

The WRA says through the first nine months of 2012, home sales are up 20.5 percent and prices have increased one percent. That means there have been 16 straight months of sales growth and eight months of median price growth, according to the WRA.

"There is no doubt that October was a very strong month for sales, which followed a more moderate pace of growth in September, so it may be that some of the sales typically seen in September spilled over into October this year," said Renny Diedrich, chairman of the WRA board of directors.
