MADISON (WKOW) -- Job interviews are always stressful, even for job seekers who have gone on countless interviews. So, the best way to reduce the stress is to be prepared.
Job experts say the first thing you should do is research. You should come into an interview with extensive knowledge of the company. Prepare at least three questions you can ask during the interview. Experts say to stay away from simple questions and to go for something that shows the amount of research and interest you have in the company.
On the day of the interview, experts say never to be late to an interview, but also try not to be too early. They say it can cause for an awkward experience as you wait in the provided area.
Make sure you dress professionally, keep eye contact with whoever asked you a question, sit up straight and toward the front of your seat, and don't fidget.
When you are talking about yourself, be concise and direct. Experts say that over explaining anything will make you look less qualified and unprepared. Make sure you are showing confidence and positivity. You should also try to keep a good sense of humor during an interview.
After the interview, send the interviewer(s) a handwritten thank you note. Experts say this allows you to thank the interviewer on a more personal level.
Tonight on 27 News at 5, Madison College counselor Al Studesville will join us to give us some job interview tips.
