Madison high school student arrested for battery

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say a 16-year-old student from Madison West High School was arrested on a tentative charge of substantial battery.

Officials say the arrest happened inside the high school on Monday, after the 16-year-old female student attacked another girl with a bicycle part. Police say the 15-year-old victim was hit several times in the head with a bike peg.

Authorities say the victim was taken to a local hospital. Officials say she needed several staples to close the wound.

Police say the suspect was apparently angry with the victim because she believes the 15-year-old recently stole her iPhone. The suspect was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center.
