MADISON (WKOW) -- The new Wisconsin State Capitol Ornament has been revealed for 2012. This year's ornament features a replica of the capitol's liberty mosaic.
In keeping with the holiday spirit, the young woman representing Liberty is wearing the traditional Phrygian cap of red and dressed in two shades of green. The non-profit, Capitol Ornament program began nine years ago and has raised thousands of dollars for the State Capitol Restoration Fund. The ornament is for sale this year, as per usual. Proceeds from sales of the ornament allow the State of Wisconsin to acquire items for the ongoing restoration of the Wisconsin State Capitol.
The 2012 ornament is on sale for $16.00. It's available for purchase at the Wisconsin State Historical Society Gift Shop and online store, the Wisconsin State Capitol Information Desk and the Wisconsin State Veteran's Museum. You can also find them at the Monona Terrace Gift Shop, Johannsen's Greenhouse and Orange Tree Imports in Madison and Tis the Season Gift Shop in Middleton.
