EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) -- Officials at one Eau Claire food pantry say their customers are usually unemployed people, but they're seeing a new type of customer this year -- the working poor.
Sherry Hebert is the coordinator for the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry. She says there are more people this year who have jobs but aren't earning enough to make ends meet. She says they're coming in not just from local neighborhoods but from surrounding communities.
Reports say families who use the pantry's services register their names and addresses, but they aren't required to list their incomes.
The food comes from the "Feed My People" food bank. The group distributes 5.6 million pounds of food each year to hunger-relief agencies in 14 counties in northwestern Wisconsin.
