Sikh Temple opens doors to unite community

OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- The Sikh Temple in Oak Creek opened its doors Wednesday for a special event.

Members held the first "Heritage Day" that intends to unite communities, eliminating fear and ending violence.

"A meshing of cultures, a quilt pad of cultures coming together. Knowing about each other. Not only knowing each other but appreciating the differences that everybody shares," says member Pardeep Kaleka.

Temple members hope area schools will incorporate a similar event in the future.
