MILWAUKEE (WKOW)- Many people will be cooking up that turkey or other trimmings with cooking oil, this holiday season. One Milwaukee company wants cooks who plan to fry their turkey to save the used cooking oil.
Cream City Grecycling takes any type of cooking oil and converts it to biodiesel. The company says, any cooking oil will do, but for example they're asking for canola, peanut or vegetable. After they get the oil, they sell it to local gas stations who then add diesel fuel.
The company's head of customer relations says cooks generally use five gallons to fry a turkey. So for the holidays they are asking cooks to donate the oil and in return, they will donate $1.00 to the homeless shelter, the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, for every gallon they collect.
They plan to accepting donations starting Monday through Jan. 6, 2012.
