EDGERTON (WKOW) -- Edgerton police arrested 22-year-old Christopher J. Barrett of Edgerton for operating a vehicle while under the influence on Thursday.

Police say, around 3:20 a.m. this morning, officers tried to stop without headlights on, but the driver did not pull over and thus a pursuit ensued. Edgerton Police continued the pursuit south on N USH 51 at speeds up to 70 mph. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office were requested to deploy stop sticks. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office deployed two sets of stops sticks south of the pursuit on N USH 51.

The vehicle struck both sets of stop sticks, which deflated 3 tires. The vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of N USH 51 and W USH 14. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Barrett was arrested for his first OWI offense, prohibited alcohol concentration and knowingly fleeing from an officer.  Barrett is in custody at the Rock County Jail. An initial court appearance is set for November 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
