EAU CLAIRE - It's a time to give thanks, but it's also a time to remember those who may not have much to be thankful for.
That's where local organizations like the Community Table come in. Thursday in Eau Claire, about 50 people volunteered to serve food. From turkey and stuffing, to cranberries and pie, all the Thanksgiving staples were dished up.
Community Table Director, Rachel Keniston said, "For us to look and say, yes, I can give back, I give thanks for what I have, and one of the ways to give thanks is to make sure that life is a little bit easier for someone else for whom it isn't quite so nice."
It was a similar scene at Hope Gospel Mission on Farwell Street. Food was served to anyone and everyone who wanted a meal.
The organization says having a place where you feel welcome is the most important thing during this time of the year.
