Eau Claire (WQOW)-The Eau Claire Fire Department wants to remind you about a holiday safety campaign that begins Thursday.
Keep the Wreath Green is back and that means five-foot wreaths will be placed in front of area fire stations and city hall. A red light will replace a green light on the wreath every time there is a fire that causes damage to a home or business.
"This time of year, people with families, a lot of cooking, a lot of busy activities, if it was cooler, we'd have space heaters, all that stuff," says Eau Claire Lead Fire Inspector Mike Laska. "So it's trying to keep people aware of the fire dangers which really do go up at this time of year."
In keeping with tradition, the wreath will also have a single white bulb that represents our men and women serving in the armed services. The wreaths will be on display until New Years Day.
