FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- Firefighters battle a blaze at Waste Management in Fond du Lac Friday morning.
They were dispatched to 1207 South Hickory Street around 8:40 a.m. When they got there, they found heavy smoke coming from inside the building where refuse is unloaded. Firefighters were able to put out a large refuse pile that had caught fire. The building never caught fire.
The building was evacuated. No one was hurt.
Alliant Energy was called to the scene restore gas, which had been shut off as a precaution.
