Press Release from the Black River Falls Fire Department:
On November 24, 2012 @ 11:09AM
the Black River Falls Fire Department (BRFFD) was paged for a structure (house)
fire at N3056 Zillmer Road
which is located in the Township of Manchester and County of Jackson.
Upon arrival Black River
Falls Fire Chief (BRFFC) found a 24' x 58' wood frame, single story, and single
family home with heavy smoke coming from the eves and roof ridge. The structure
also had a metal roof which made it difficult to get water into the attic area
for a time.
The owners were home at the
time preparing for a family Thanksgiving dinner. The owners reported that a
circuit breaker had tripped in for the kitchen area. The circuit breaker was
reset and a short time later the owners could hear fire burning above the
kitchen area in the attic.
An electrical issue is
suspected to be the cause of the fire at this time. The fire was contained to
the attic area but the home has smoke and water damage throughout.
The structure and contents
are insured. A damage estimate is not known at this time.
American Red Cross was called
to assist the family.
The owners and occupants of
the property are Robert and Peggy Vian.
