Chippewa County (WQOW) - The DNR is investigating a shooting in Chippewa County. The DNR says a 14-year-old male shot a 50-year-old male hunter Saturday morning around 8:30 in the Town of Ruby. No names have been released.
Both were part of a large deer drive. The DNR says a deer ran in between the two, and the 14-year-old shot. The victim was shot in the upper chest, and he was airlifted to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
"This shooting illustrates the importance of having a well-defined plan before engaging in a deer drive," says DNR spokesman Ed Culhane. "It's very important for shooters to know where their safe shooting zones are."
