Eau Claire (WQOW/CNN) - FedEx is getting ready for what it
predicts will be the busiest day in company history next month. The company expects it will ship more than 19
million packages on Monday, December 10th. That's the day most customers ship
their packages out in order to get them to their destination by Christmas.
That's ten-percent more than FedEx shipped on its busiest day last year, and
more than double the volume it handles on an average day. FedEx says it thinks
online shopping and people mailing holiday packages will bring more than 280 million
shipments through the company in the next month. To handle all of that extra volume, FedEx had
added 20,000 seasonal positions to help make the deliveries.
