Eau Claire (WQOW) - Sunday was the last day in Wisconsin's gun deer
season, and preliminary numbers show a strong year.
Statewide,
the DNR sold more than 614,000 gun deer licenses. About 25,000 of them were
first time hunters. That's a growing trend registration officials are happy to
see. The DNR estimates a 27-percent
increase in the number of harvested bucks. License sales were also up
two-percent over last year. The state's muzzleloader season opens this week,
and December sixth marks the start of antlerless deer hunt.
