MADISON (WKOW)-- DVO Incorporated manufactures anaerobic manure digesters in Chilton, Wisconsin, and it's expanding internationally.

Melissa Van Ornum Marketing Manager at DVO Anaerobic Digesters says, "To date we have over 20 sites in Wisconsin with our digester, we have over 80 sites total around the US and are now going abroad, so it's an exciting time for us."Its Exciting because the technology DVO developed creates renewable energy domestically and overseas. In the process, it reduces odor, kills 99% of bacterial pathogens like E. Coli, and creates solid and liquid by-products from manure that can be used to bed cows, or spread on fields as fertilizer increasing crop yields.

Van Ornum says," Not only does it help the farming industry, it helps the construction industry, it's creating jobs." DVO is also unique in the way it does business. The staff consists of engineers and designers who scale the digesters for each farm. Then they contract out local welders, electricians and construction crews to build the digester which helps the local economy.

Larry Dufek, Dairy Farmer at Dairyland Farm LLC says, "It allowed us to create green energy and reduce our carbon footprint as we're milking cows, and as stewards of the land we always like to do a better job!" Energy companies are seeing the benefits of digesters and now have another avenue for renewable energy to offer their customers.

Scott Krupicka, Regional Manager at Energy Systems Group says, "We're taking the gas from the process and we're capturing it, making electricity to generate for people to use in their home and businesses." And Wisconsin farmers are proud to do their part to help produce green energy.

Dufek says, "That we can plant crops, harvest crops, produce a healthy product like milk and then turn around and produce green energy is exciting.
